Library-goers outraged after porn film shot in building during opening hours

A porn film shot at a public library during opening hours has provoked outrage from residents in California, according to local reports.

The video, which showed a woman exposing herself and carrying out sex acts, was filmed at a library in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, while members of the public were inside the building.

Resident Janet McLaughlin said she was sent the video by a concerned parent and used social media to alert the city to the incident.

“God forbid, a child walked in the library and walked right in on the middle of it. That’s my biggest concern,” Ms McLaughlin told CBS Los Angeles.

“Children don’t need to be exposed to this. If you want to do porn, stick to the hotels.”

The video has since been removed from the pornography website where it was uploaded.

Although the man in the video could not be identified, the woman is said to have appeared in other adult films.

City officials have described the incident as “deeply disturbing”.

“Lewd acts in the public library are a violation of library rules and against the law,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“Staff did not have knowledge of the incident when it took place.

"The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating."

A post about the video on the Instagram page “Santa Monica Problems” said an earlier investigation into the incident determined that no library employees had been involved in the video.

Luis Carrillo, a Los Angeles lawyer, told NBC Los Angeles there could be serious legal consequences for the two people involved in the film, if they were found guilty of performing and recording lewd activities in a public space.

“If a person is found to have committed that crime, the punishment may include, apart from jail, registering as a sex offender,” Mr Carrillo said.
