Donald Trump singles out woman reporter at rally - again

‘He obviously didn’t mean it in any malicious way’, according to his campaign manager

Following a slew of sexual assault allegations, child rape allegations, “locker room banter” about grabbing women’s genitals and calling women “slobs” and “pigs”, voters at a rally in Miami might have expected Donald Trump to be more cautious when addressing women in public.

But the Republican, who has vehemently denied the assault and rape allegations, was not going to change his tune towards women journalists so close to the election.

Pointing to the “media bias” against him for not reporting the size of the crowds, he singled out NBC journalist Katy Tur - again - in front of hundreds of people.

"There's something happening. They're not reporting it. Katy — you're not reporting it, Katy," Mr Trump said.

"But there's something happening, Katy. There's something happening, Katy."

The last time Mr Trump singled out Ms Tur was in December, when he called her a “third rate journalist”, causing attendees to shout at her. In a news conference in July, he told her to “be quiet”.

"Try getting it out," he taunted her during a one-on-one interview in the Trump Tower in July, as she attempted to re-word a question. "Try getting it out. I mean i don’t know if they’re going to put this on television but you don’t even know what you’re talking about. Go ahead."

Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said the campaign had always urged supporters to be "civil" and that Mr Trump had not encouraged them to be mean to the journalist.

"He obviously didn’t mean it in any malicious way," she told MSNBC.

Ms Tur has been described as "tough and fair" by her colleagues.

She has questioned him on his anti-immigrant stance and his failure to immediately disavow an endorsement from the former KKK imperial wizard David Duke.

Mr Trump has previously singled out other journalists, pointing at them during conferences and making remarks.

When he spoke about the military veteran charities he donated to in May, he pointed to one journalist at ABC News and called him a “sleaze”.

His biggest feud has been with Megyn Kelly, an anchor from Fox News, who questioned him on his attitude towards women during the primary season debates. He has called her “crazy” and said her “anger” meant there was “blood coming out of her wherever”.

Mr Trump's senior aide, Dan Scavino, tweeted that Ms Kelly had "made a fool out of herself" and voters should "watch what happens to her" once the election was over.
