A strong earthquake shook skyscrapers in Mexico City on today, sending frightened people into the streets.
The US Geological Survey said the quake had a magnitude of 5.7 and was centered 90 miles (140 kilometers) southeast of the capital.
Radio Formula said there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Residents across the metropolis of 20 million gathered on sidewalks, afraid to go back into their homes and offices while police surveyed streets.
