A man who has been accused of killing his wife allegedly posted a YouTube video after the murder to apologise to their children.

Trent Paschal, 48, of La Marque, Texas, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his wife Savannah Paschal, 30, on Wedneday.

According to the police affidavit obtained by People, Mr Paschal shot his wife after emerging from the shower of their home’s master bathroom, where he had reportedly been hiding.

Savannah’s mother was in the master bedroom with her daughter when the shooting happened.

"Trent stated that he was going to shoot both [Savannah’s mother] and Savannah," reads the affidavit. "[Her mother] shut the bathroom door on Trent, and started running out of the bedroom, toward the front of the house."

Savannah’s mother ran to a neighbour’s house, but she heard multiple gunshots as she was fleeing the home. Once she returned, she found her daughter in the bedroom fatally wounded.

First responders were called to the scene around noon on Wednesday. Savannah was taken to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead.

Mr Paschal fled the scene in a grey Chevrolet pickup truck, which was discovered later that day by police in Houston.

Police found the suspect with a friend in another vehicle. They ordered him to exit the vehicle, which was when he allegedly pulled a gun. A deputy shot him.

“He produced a handgun from underneath his shirt and had it in his hand. It was a revolver that has been recovered on the scene. Ordered him to drop the weapon he did not comply and was shot several times,” said Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff's office.

Mr Paschal was transported to the hospital where he reportedly remains in critical, but stable, condition.

The affidavit alleges that a neighbour captured a recording of Mr Paschal speaking to his wife’s aunt over the phone where he confessed to shooting Savannah.

A YouTube video has also circulated since the arrest. In the four-minute video, Mr Paschal addresses his two children and apologises to them.

“I’m so sorry that I’ve done this. I want you to know that you mean everything to me,” he said to his children before blaming Savannah’s alleged infidelity for his actions.

The video abruptly ends with Mr Paschal running out of the room.

He has remained in hospital since Wednesday and has not yet entered a plea to the charges he faces.
