Travolta's son dies during holiday
The teenage son of the actor John Travolta died yesterday after having a seizure while the family was on holiday in the Bahamas.
A police spokeswoman, Loretta Mackey, said Jett Travolta, 16, had hit his head on the bath, causing a seizure, yesterday morning and was formally declared dead at Rand Memorial Hospital on Grand Bahama Island.
Jett was the oldest child of Travolta and his wife, the actress Kelly Preston. A spokeswoman for the hospital in Freeport said she could not release any information because of privacy concerns. However, the family's lawyer, Michael Ossi, said Jett, who had a history of seizures, had suffered one at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel. He added that attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene.
According to his parents, Jett suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome, which can result in heart disease. There have also been widespread claims that Jett was autistic, but this has always been strenuously denied by his parents, drawing criticism from the parents of autistic children.
