Two-headed calf born in Florida with two mouths that feed separately

The animal has been named Annabel by shocked farmers

A two-headed calf has been born alive on a farm in the US.

The animal, named “Annabel” by farmers, was found in Baker County, Florida, on Sunday.

Her two heads face in different directions and feed separately, with four eyes, two noses, two mouths and two ears.

Carolyn Crews found the calf in her field and told WJXX television she has to feed her four times a day.

She is unsure how long Annabel will live, saying her breathing seems laboured and she cannot stand up under the weight of the heads.

“It was just like a surprise because no one has even seen anything like this around here,” Ms Crews added.

“I never even dreamed of such a thing happening. It'll be something that we probably never seen in our lifetime.”

Dwight Crews, the owner of the farm, said he had never seen a two-headed calf in more than 60 years of raising cattle.

The odds of such an occurrence are said to be as low as one in 400 million and such animals rarely survive beyond a few days.

In February, another two-headed calf was reportedly stillborn in Martinsville, Virginia, and others have been born in recent years in several US states and Morocco.
