US Capitol lockdown lifted after shooting, reports say
Reports say a man killed himself on the Capitol stairs
The US Capitol was on lockdown after a suicide occurred outside the building and continued while police investigated a suspicious package.
The lockdown was lifted after about two hours, the Associated Press reported.
Reports from the scene say a man killed himself on the steps of the Capitol during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The suspected shooter has been "neutralised" and authorities are investigating.
Authorities kept the lockdown in place because of a suspicious package near the Capitol. NBC News reported that the package was a suitcase.
