'She's got great hair': Trump's weird response when asked about Kirstie Alley endorsement

Actress endorsed US president in a series of tweets on Saturday

President Donald Trump has responded to actress Kirstie Alley endorsing him for president by saying she has “great hair.”

Over the weekend, Alley, 69, who is best known for her role of Rebecca Howe on the sitcom Cheers, said that she would be voting for Mr Trump in 3 November’s election.

Alley, who is a prominent member of the Church of Scientology, tweeted on Saturday evening in reference to Mr Trump: “I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason.

“He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it folks there you have it”.

When asked about Alley’s endorsement on Tuesday morning during an appearance on Fox & Friends, the president praised the actress.

“I think she’s great and I’ve always liked her. I just think she’s got courage you know. She’s Hollywood, she did very well in Hollywood,” Mr Trump said.

The president added: “I think she's great, and I think she has great hair.”

Ms Alley explained her decision to support Mr Trump during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Monday evening and suggested that his Democratic challenger Joe Biden is racist.

“When your gaffes are constantly - when he said, you know, 'you ain't black if you're not voting for me,' and you know these constant gaffes that have these actual racist overtones,” Alley said in reference to Mr Biden.

“And I'm like, no, you maybe get one where you accidentally said something inappropriate but it's pretty constant.

“I mean, it is constant, isn't it? Those are racial slurs,” the 69-year-old added.

Alley was referring to an interview with radio host Charlamagne tha God in May, where Mr Biden made controversial comments.

“Well, I'll tell you what,” Mr Biden said. “If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black.”

He later apologised for his comments and told reporters: “I shouldn't have said that.”

However, Mr Trump, who Alley also voted for in 2016, has a history of making comments that many have deemed racist.

A political ad criticising Mr Trump’s comments about black women was released on Friday by author Don Winslow.

The ad features several insults the president has made towards black women working in the media and politics.

“Donald Trump has a long history of racism,” a narrator says. “He especially hates black women. That’s not hyperbole.”
