Obamas congratulate Biden and Harris on election win: 'Beyond thrilled'
The Obamas, who worked closely with president-elect Biden back when he was vice president, extended congratulations to their old friend

Former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama joined the ranks of dignitaries congratulating the Biden-Harris ticket on their presidential victory Saturday morning.
Ms Obama also added that, “I’m beyond thrilled that my friend Joe Biden and our first Black and Indian-American woman Vice President, Kamala Harris, are headed to restore some dignity, competence, and heart at the White House. Our country sorely needs it."
She also cautioned that that election wasn’t the end of the road.
“Let’s remember that tens of millions of people voted for the status quo, even when it meant supporting lies, hate, chaos, and division,” Ms Obama said as part of a Twitter thread. “We’ve got a lot of work to do to reach out to these folks in the years ahead and connect with them on what unites us.”
Earlier in the day, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau extended his well wishes too, telling president-elect Joe Biden he was excited to work on the “world’s greatest challenges.”
