A married US lawmaker who cultivated a family-values voting record in Congress resigned after a gossip website reported that he sent a shirtless photo of himself flexing his muscles to a woman he met on the Craigslist website.

A 34-year-old government employee provided the Gawker website with emails she said she exchanged with Christopher Lee, a two-term Republican from New York state, in response to an ad she placed last month in the "Women Seeking Men" section of Craigslist.
