AOC reveals her Post-it wall of thank you notes in Congress

Youngest congresswoman subject of both admiration and anger

It is not always easy being the most famous congresswoman in the history of the universe.

Yes, you get lots of people who think you’re a youthful, straight-talking breath of fresh air.

But then you get the haters too; not just Republicans who claim you plan to transform the US into the United Communist States of America, but also from within your own party.

People can get jealous of all that media attention.

How delightful then, to see in in real physical form, the gratitude of some of the people who appreciate what you are doing to help them.

On Tuesday, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed some some of the colourful messages of thanks that had been sent in by people to her office, and carefully added to the wall beside her door.

After being told they had to take it down, the congresswoman instead put the messages on a board inside.

“It just appeared one day. Some mothers came by & left 2-3 encouraging notes on my plaque,” Ms Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter, responding to a question about the origins of the wall.

The 29-year-old, who last week unveiled a plan to make the nation’s economy carbon neutral within a decade, added: “We left them up, bc it was great to read those little encouraging words every morning. Soon, more post-its came. It became a little ritual for the public, so we left stacks out for people.”
