The likelihood of Donald Trump becoming the next President of the United States has increased, according to bookmakers.
In the first change to US Election betting in a week, the business magnate's odds were shortened from 4/1 to 7/2, meaning he went from having a 20 to a 22 per cent chance of winning the White House, betting company William Hill said.
"Despite being written off by much of the media and by many pollsters, there is still considerable betting support for Donald Trump," William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe said in a statement.
The odds of Hillary Clinton winning, once a 1/9 favourite have now been lengthened to 1/5, meaning her chance at winning the Presidency has shrunk from 90 per cent to 82 per cent, the betting company said.
The billionaire property tycoon has claimed he is winning in most states, despite the vast majority of national polls showing MsClinton is far ahead of him. His campaign prospects have fallen after a tape of him making lewd comments about groping women surfaced.
But some political forecasters have predicted the tycoon will win, including a professor that developed a model which successfully predicted all but one presidential election result for the past 100 years.
