The Democratic impeachment managers introduced frightening new footage into Donald Trump's trial in the Senate showing a man wandering the halls and calling out for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a threatening manner.

In the video, a man can be seen wandering through the Capitol, beckoning to Ms Pelosi in a sing-song way.

"Where are you, Nancy?" the cameraman calls out. "Oh Nancy, we're looking for you!"

Another man can be heard shouting back, "She's in jail!"

The rioter's intonation is clearly influenced by the horror movie cliche where killers mockingly call out to their victims.

Whereas as most of Congress took shelter in a secure location on the Capitol grounds, Capitol Police evacuated Ms Pelosi from the Capitol complex entirely.

House impeachment manager Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat representing the US Virgin Islands, said that was because some of the mob had declared they wanted to kill Ms Pelosi if they found her.

“They did it because Donald Trump sent them on this mission," Ms Plaskett said on Wednesday.

The House Speaker was one of Donald Trump's frequent targets, branding her "Crazy Nancy".

The president repeatedly insisted top Democrats stole the election from him in his attempts to subvert the actual results.

"All of us here today do not want to see our election victory stolen by emboldened radical-left Democrats, which is what they’re doing. And stolen by the fake news media," the ex-president said to his crowd of supporters right before they marched on the Capitol. "That’s what they’ve done and what they’re doing. We will never give up, we will never concede."

The pair publicly loathed each other. During the 2020 State of the Union Address, Mr Trump appeared to refuse shaking Ms Pelosi's hand, and she publicly tore up a copy of his speech after he was finished.

The video of rioters stalking the halls was part of the impeachment managers' room-by-room examination of the insurrection, which included several videos.

They also played another shocking video, a super-cut of the president's remarks just before the mob broke out, mixed in with scenes of rioters bashing police officers and congress members fleeing.
