Whoopi Goldberg has said she will “take a break” from talking about Donald Trump because things are “actually happening” under president Joe Biden, who admitted he was also “tired” with Trump.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Mr Biden referred to the former president as “that guy” and admitted to being “tired of talking about Donald Trump”, whose frenzied political style and Twitter use dominated the news during the four years of his presidency.

“I don’t want to talk about him anymore. For four years, all that’s been in the news is Trump,” Mr Biden told CNN’s Anderson Cooper during a town hall in Wisconsin. “For the next four years, I wanna make sure the news is the American people.”

Ms Goldberg, a co-host of The View, said on Wednesday morning’s episode that she agreed with the US president, and showed Mr Biden speaking on Tuesday night.

"I want to take a break from talking about him [Donald Trump] every day because I want to pay attention to what's actually happening, because we have been b*****g and moaning that nothing was happening,” Ms Goldberg said.

Pointing to increased vaccine shipments to US states by Mr Biden, among other actions taken to control the Covid-19 pandemic since he became president, The View co-host said she wanted to “highlight the fact that there’s something happening now”.

It also comes after Mr Trump — still banned by Twitter — released a statement attacking Senate leader Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who said the former president was "morally responsible" for the US Capitol riot.

“People are going in to get their [Covid-19] shots. People are going to get their [pandemic relief] money that's been promised to them that they need desperately. I want to make sure we talk about that, as well," said Ms Goldberg.

"Yeah, he's going to be there, but I don't have to give him very much more air than saying, yeah, he's there,” she continued, and said she didn’t need to provide comment on someone whose views did not represent “people of colour”.

“Because as far as I'm concerned,I don't want to talk about somebody who thinks I'm a nonstarter as a person, as a person of colour. I don't want to talk about a party that has decided that — they're not concerned whether I'm uncomfortable with what they're doing.”

“They, you know, they voted that this is the direction they want to go in, so I'm not going to give them a lot of attention,” she said of both the Republican party and Mr Trump. “I'll keep my eye on them, but I don't have to give them a lot of attention."
