A serial killer has been sentenced to die for murdering 11 women and dumping their bodies around his property.
Judge Dick Ambrose imposed the sentence today on 51-year-old Anthony Sowell in a court in Cleveland, Ohio.
The jury that convicted Sowell announced its sentence recommendation on Wednesday, and Judge Ambrose followed their wishes.
The judge had announced that Sowell deserved to die after a 45-minute analysis of his crimes and background factors in his favour.
Sowell never looked at victims' relatives as they spoke during the hearing. And, he ignored the judge when asked if he wanted to speak.
Prosecutors say Sowell lured the women to his home with the promise of alcohol or drugs.
