Workers stuck on elevated platform in Oklahoma

Terrifying footage shows two skyscraper window washers clinging to an out-of-control platform as it swings wildly through the air - 50-storeys above the ground.

The platform jerked around violently as it was buffeted by heavy gusts of wind on Wednesday morning, smashing into the sides of the Devon Tower office building in downtown Oklahoma City and sending shards of glass to the ground below.

Roads in the area were cordoned off to protect people from potential injury after the developing situation was spotted just before 8am.

Fire crews quickly secured the platform and rescued the workers.

Fire battalion chief Benny Fulkerson described the rescue effort as “tedious” but successful, adding: “It appears as though it went as smoothly as it possibly could have in a situation like this.”

No injuries have been reported.
