Woman accidentally steals car and leaves heartfelt apology
'It’s like a bad sitcom that nobody would ever buy the story'

In a recent case of mistaken identity, a woman accidentally stole another person’s car in Portland, Oregon—before returning it with an apology note and extra $30 in gas in the tank.
The accidental automobile thief claims she put the keys into the wrong red Subaru Impreza and made off with Erin Hatzi’s vehicle. “Hello, So sorry I stole your car,” she wrote in her apology.
“I did not see the car until this morning and I said, 'that is not my car.’”
Hatzi says that police confirmed that old Subaru keys are sometimes interchangeable. "I'm not entirely sure where the car spent the evening but it came back with a nice note and a weird story," she told The Oregonian.
"My car had a little adventure."
“It’s insane,” Ms Hatzi told KGW-TV in Portland. “It’s like a bad sitcom that nobody would ever buy the story because it’s stupid and makes no sense. But it happened.”
