Woman arrested after threatening to eat neighbour's children
Carrie Pernula has reportedly admitted sending a string of threatening letters
A woman has been arrested after sending letters to her neighbours asking to eat their children.
Carrie Pernula admitted sending anonymous threats to a neighbouring family because she was upset about the noise the children made and items they reportedly left in her garden, according to a police statement on CBS.
The recipient of the letter posted an image to the community Facebook page for residents in Champlin, Minnesota. The image shows a sentence of the letter, which reads: “The children look delicious. May I have a taste?”
The post soon attracted attention and comments from concerned residents, who reportedly became worried for their children’s safety.
Pernula, 38, is accused of sending a number of letters to the family saying she wanted to taste and lick the children as well as sending magazine subscriptions to their address which had phrases such as “tasty children” written on the address label.
Police say they traced the threats to Pernula after they were contacted by the concerned neighbours. According to the force, Pernula admitted making the threats.
Ty Schmidt, the Deputy Police Chief of Champlin Police told CBS: “She [Pernula] was angry because the kids were leaving things in her yard and I think being a little noisy, being kids, the way kids are.”
She was arrested and faces possible charges of gross misdemeanour terroristic threats and stalking.
She has not been charged and the Champlin city attorney is reportedly looking into the case.
