Amnesty International has adopted Dr Mohammed Abdullah al- Masaari, spokesman for the recently founded Committee for the Defence of Legitimate Rights, as a prisoner of conscience following his arrest by the Saudi authorities on 15 May, writes Charles Richards. The committee was formed on 3 May by six prominent religious scholars, some of them hardline zealots.
