A senior court official in Azerbaijan yesterday rejected appeals from Moscow to spare five Russian soldiers sentenced to death in the former Soviet republic this week, Reuter reports from Moscow.
Shahin Rustamov, chairman of the Supreme Court military board, said the sentences on the soldiers, who were accused of fighting against Azerbaijan on the side of its enemy Armenia, were final and without the right of appeal.
