A former commander of the Palestine Liberation Organisation in Lebanon, Munir Maqdah, told the newspaper Nida' al-Watan that Ron Arad, a missing Israeli navigator, was killed in the crossfire after he parachuted from his plane, which was shot down in 1986, Reuter reports from Beirut.
