Armenians seize key town

Armenian forces claimed control of the strategic town of Fizuli after driving out Azeri troops, AFP reports from Moscow. The Azeri Ministry of Defence said that the Armenian troops, which had been besieging Fizuli for two weeks, launched a final assault at the weekend. It said that reinforcements from the Azeri army had to carry out diversionary manoeuvres in order to allow fellow soldiers trapped inside Fizuli to escape through the southern part of town.
