24 hours of rain causes heavy flooding in Northern India
The northern state of Uttar Pradesh has been hit badly by flooding

24 hours of rain has caused heavy flooding in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Several districts have been affected including Moradabad, Rampur and Udham Singh Nagar.
Residents are moving into connected villages but as the water level rises, it is becoming increasingly difficult for people to vacate their homes.
According to local residents, no warning was issued by the government. Consequently, people have endured heavy losses due to the floodwater damaging farmland and grain supplies.
One local resident commented “We are tense because of the floods and our lives are disrupted, communication has stalled and the water level is increasing over time… the government should think about us, we may all have to leave the village.”
