A passenger jet was shot at yesterday by South Korean troops who mistook it for a North Korean military aircraft.
The Asiana Airlines plane, arriving from China, was beginning its descent into Seoul at dawn when it became a target for marines based on Gyodong Island, who fired 99 rounds at it over 10 minutes. No damage was caused and none of the 119 people on board was harmed. Tensions between the countries were heightened by attacks on South Korea last year.
