Hindu devotees lost their balance yesterday as they try to form a human pyramid in Mumbai to break the "Dahi handi", an earthen pot filled with curd hung 20-30ft from the ground.
The ceremony forms part of Janmashtami, the festival that marks the birth of the Hindu god Krishna, and commemorates an incident in the infant Krishna's life. Contestants, known as Govinda groups, have to clamber up each other in order to reach the pot, while onlookers try to distract them by spraying them with water.
