Imran Khan's Islamabad home attacked

The house of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has come under attack – apparently from disgruntled members of his own party.

Up to 100 members of Mr Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf went to his house in an Islamabad suburb to protest over the distribution of party tickets in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa province ahead of an election scheduled for May 11.

They broke the main gate of the residence Mr Khan and tried to enter his personal quarters but the former sportsman’s security guards called the police and forced the angry PTI workers from the premises.

“The crowd were disgruntled PTI people who didn't get tickets. They can protest, that’s fine. But you can't charge inside,” said Mr Khan, who called for the resignation of the caretaker interior minister.
