Lost and found: After the Japanese dock... flotsam's greatest hits
After a section of a Japanese dock washed up on the West Coast of the US this week, here are four other great shore arrivals:
1. Rubber ducks In 1992, a cargo of ducks fell off a boat from China and into the Pacific. Since then, they have appeared on beaches across the globe and used to examine currents.
2. A Football Misaki Murakami's football was lost during the 2011 tsunami, but turned up on an Alaskan beach in April.
3. Motorbikes A Japanese Harley Davidson was returned to its owner after floating to Canada.
4. A giant Lego man The toy has shocked beach visitors in Holland, Brighton and Florida. In all cases it has been the work of Dutch artist Ego Leonard.
