Britain has asked China to investigate the death of a British man in Chong-qing, the south-western city formerly run by Bo Xilai, a Communist Party chief who was abruptly ousted this month.
Nick Heywood died in November but questions about his death have been posted on Chinese blogs, linking it to the tensions between Mr Bo and his police chief. The Foreign Office said it was "aware of rumours and speculation related to the case".
The British embassy in Beijing says it was told his death was caused by alcohol.
