A Pakistani Christian girl detained on accusations of burning Islamic religious texts was too frightened to speak in a prison where she was being held in solitary confinement for her safety after she was attacked by a mob, an activist who visited her has said.

Rimsha Masih "was frightened and traumatised," said Christian activist Xavier William. "She was assaulted and in very bad shape. She had bruises on her face and hands."
