Pakistan President will 'return home soon'

President Asif Ali Zardari has said he is "fine", nearly a week after his rush to a hospital in Dubai led to speculation that he might resign.

"I'm fine and will return soon," the Pakistani President reportedly told Hamid Mir, a news anchor.

The issue has gripped Islamabad, exacerbating a series of crises. Bloggers and analysts had openly speculated that a coup was afoot.
