Readers raise £52,587 to help the earthquake survivors

The DEC thanked The Independent yesterday for the readers' response, which has contributed to the $15m (£8.5m) raised by the umbrella group.

They still need your help. £90 will buy a winterised tent to help homeless people in the mountains, while £42 buys a family survival kit that lasts for 20 days, and £15 buys seven blankets.
