Tens of thousands of people rallied in Pakistan's largest city yesterday in support of Malala Yousufzai, the 14-year-old girl shot and critically wounded by the Taliban last week for promoting girls' education and criticising the Islamist group.
The demonstration in Karachi was by far the largest since Malala and two classmates were shot while returning home from school in Mingora, in the north-western Swat Valley.
Doctors at a military hospital in Rawalpindi said the teenager's condition improved somewhat on Saturday when she was able to move her legs and hands.
