Timelapse shows the day-to-day world of Tokyo's Haneda Airport

The airport is one of the busiest in Asia, serving over 70 million passengers every year

While most of us prefer to spend as little time as possible in an airport, a new timelapse shows the full workings of one of Tokyo's main transportation hubs from dawn until dusk.

The video, shot by Darwinfis105 for Vimeo using three different types of camera, depicts the loading and unloading of planes as well as the comings and goings of aircraft across the city's skyline, allowing a better understand of just how many planes come and go from city airports around the world in a single day.

Haneda Airport is one of Tokyo's two main airports and is the main base for Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways.

Haneda was the main airport up until 1978 before becoming the main domestic terminal for Tokyo. With the opening of a fourth runway five years ago, Haneda began to once more serve international routes.

Haneda handled 72,826,862 passengers in 2014, the second busiest airport in Asia. It was also ranked as the most punctual airport in the world by Forbes back in 2009, with 94.3 per cent of flights arriving on time.
