Three men were lucky not to drown after their SUV plunged into an icy reservoir in north-east China last week.

The three friends had to climb out of the front window of the Audi Q7 when it broke through ice as they drove on a frozen reservoir in Shenyang, in the Liaoning Province.

It did not take long for the rest of the car to become submerged, leading the driver and his passengers to escape through the car’s front window.

Crowds attending the fishing festival gathered around to watch the vehicle quickly disappear below the ice.

According to police, no one was injured and the car was later recovered.
