Elephant fell down the well while walking with its mother and herd (ITN)
A baby elephant had to be rescued by villagers and forestry officials this week after it fell into an abandoned well near a forest range in southern India.
The two-year-old calf is believed to have been walking in the Kuttampuzha Forest Range in Kerala with its herd when it inadvertently fell down the deep hole.
When the slope was finally low enough, a rope was attached to the elephant and villagers were able to pull the animal out.
The animal quickly ran back into the forest but is unknown whether it was reunited with its herd.
