'You're not fit to call yourselves men': Senator Sarah Hanson-Young accuses male colleagues of 'slut-shaming'
Spat started after LNP’s O’Sullivan made a crude joke about Green’s Senator Sarah Hanson-Young
Senator Sarah Hanson-Young has called out several politicians in the parliament of Australia for allegedly targeting her with a “pattern” of abuse.
Addressing Fraser Anning, Barry O’Sullivan, Cory Bernardi and David Leyonhjelm, she said, while pointing at them: “I will name you because you are not fit to be in this chamber, you're not fit to represent your constituents and you're not fit to call yourselves men.”
The spat started on Wednesday after LNP’s Mr O’Sullivan made a crude joke about Green’s Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
“She didn’t turn up. There’s a bit of Nick Xenophon in her, and I don’t mean that to be a double reference, but there’s a bit of Xenophon in her," he said, referring to a former Senator.
Green’s leader Richard Di Natale responded by calling Mr O’Sullivan a “pig," and said that the chamber had “endured on this side, days of sexist filth coming from that man”.
Ms Hanson-Young accused the four men of "months" of “slurs and attacks” from the men and added that she was “sick of it”, and that Mr O’Sullivan had “slut-shamed” her.
