The last known combat veteran of the First World War was laid to rest yesterday.
Claude Stanley Choules died two weeks ago, aged 110. Mr Choules began training with the Royal Navy at 14, joining the battleship HMS Revenge in 1917. In the 1920s he emigrated and joined the Royal Australian Navy.
