The notorious Melbourne mobster Carl Williams was buried in a golden casket yesterday after he was murdered in prison last week.
Williams, whose life story was turned into the popular television series Underbelly, was serving a life sentence for organising the murders of several rivals. He was attacked by a fellow inmate wielding the stem of an exercise bike. A large crowd of mourners – and a heavy police presence – turned out to see his £18,000 coffin, which was based on the model used for Michael Jackson.
