Survivors of devastating floods sought solace in church services yesterday while emergency workers searched wrecked homes for victims.
The flooding across the north-east of the country has caused 28 deaths and 14 people are still missing. In Grantham, the epicentre of the flash flood, 70 per cent of the town remained cordoned off while searchers looked for bodies. In Brisbane, 30,000 homes and businesses were flooded. The clean-up could take months and reconstruction up to two years.
