Australia has welcomed in 2014 in style with an impressive fireworks display that lit up Sydney Harbour.
Around one-and-a-half million people are estimated to have lined the sides of the harbour to watch the incredible fireworks display.
Seven tonnes of fireworks were set off from the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, along with various other locations around the city.
Fireworks were even set off around the sails of the Sydney Opera House, which marks its 40th anniversary this year. It was the first time in a decade fireworks were set off around the building, however, they were specially designed to prevent causing any damage to the opera house.
The display lasted around 12 minutes, leaving spectators enthralled. Around a one billion people are thought to have tuned in to watch the fireworks on television. It is estimated that around £3.5million to stage.
