Abidjan - Ivory Coast held its second multi-party general election, with opposition parties hoping to break the ruling Democratic Party's post- independence monopoly on power. The opposition parties were back in the ring after boycotting last month's presidential election, which the ruling-party leader, Henri Konan Bedie, won against a backdrop of clashes that killed 35 people.
