France's new conservative Prime Minister, Edouard Balladur, will meet the German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, in Bonn on 22 April, Reuter reports from Bonn. The meeting is seen as symbolising the importance of the Franco-German partnership for the new centre-right Paris government and its commitment to the European Community and monetary system. Chancellery officials said the two leaders would discuss bilateral issues and efforts to reach a world free-trade accord.
