European Community ministers responsible for audio-visual policy agreed yesterday that new trade rules must allow the EC to take specific action to protect its television and film industries from a Hollywood onslaught, Reuter reports from Mons. The ministers stopped short of backing a so-called 'cultural exception' in world trade rules that is strongly favoured by France and the European film industry.
