The Pakistani opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto, sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, urging him to put aside their enmity and join forces to end a political crisis and head off martial law, Reuter reports from Islamabad. Ms Bhutto presented Mr Sharif with a three-point plan: formation of a national government, constitutional reforms and fresh elections.
