Islamabad - Benazir Bhutto's candidate for president won by a comfortable margin yesterday, giving Pakistan its best chance at political stability since martial law ended six years ago. Farooq Leghari defeated the acting president, Wasim Sajjad, who was backed by Nawaz Sharif, Ms Bhutto's political rival and predecessor as prime minister. AP
