An earthquake rocked a broad section of South America and was felt in Canada, but there were no reports of casualties or major damage, AP reports from La Paz. The quake, centred 200 miles from the Bolivian capital, was unusually deep - about 400 miles underground. Because of this, 'there pretty much won't be much damage', said Jim Mori of the US Geological Survey. It caused power-cuts in Chile and Bolivia and sent people running into the streets.
