DAMASCUS (AFP) - The Iraqi Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani has escaped a car-bomb attack in northern Iraq which killed one person, his Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said yesterday.
The party's office in Damascus said the car-bomb, in the city of Arbil, blew up minutes after Mr Talabani's convoy drove by after a meeting at the Kurdish parliament with his rival, Massud Barzani, on Thursday. The driver of the booby-trapped car was killed, a PUK spokesman said.
