SARAJEVO (Reuter) - Bosnian Serb forces have closed in on the Muslim-held town of Srebrenica, capturing villages on its outskirts, UN peace-keeping officials reported yesterday.
Two mortar bombs crashed into the besieged town soon after a local ceasefire took effect.
Commander Barry Frewer, a spokesman for the UN Protection Force in Sarajevo, said the Serbian advance had forced more refugees to take refuge in Srebrenica itself.
Meanwhile, the UN airlift into Sarajevo was suspended yesterday after Serbian artillery was moved within range of the airport, an official said.
