Umberto Bossi, the leader of Italy's Northern League, vowed to stay at the head of his party despite being caught up in a national corruption scandal, Reuter reports from Rome. Mr Bossi, who rose to prominence by attacking political graft, denied the League was corrupt and blamed poor book-keeping for allegations that it took an undeclared 200 million lire (pounds 95,000) contribution from the chemical giant Montedison.
