Aloisio Lorscheider, 69, Cardinal-Archbishop of Fortaleza in north-east Brazil, was released along with 12 other hostages held for 20 hours by a group of fugitive prisoners, and said he forgave his captors, Reuter reports from Fortaleza. The hostages were freed unharmed after police chased the armoured van the prisoners had used in their escape from a maximum security jail in Fortaleza.
